PreMax Privacy Policy

PreMax ("we", "us", "our") photographs a food and scores it as pre-workout fuel. This policy explains what data the app handles, why, and where it goes. We built PreMax to collect as little as possible: there is no account to create, no email or name to give us, and your scan history stays on your device.

1. Information We Handle

PreMax works with only what is needed to score your food:

• An anonymous identifier. On first launch we create an anonymous session through Supabase Auth. There is no email, password, name, or social login. This anonymous id is not tied to your real-world identity, and it exists so the food-photo analysis service can attribute and rate-limit requests.
• Food photos you capture or choose. When you scan a food, the photo is sent for analysis (see Section 2). We do not store your photo on our servers.
• Food search queries you type. When you search for a food instead of photographing it, your search text is sent to the USDA nutrition database (see Section 3).
• Your training preferences and scan history (your workout split, training frequency, goals, default fueling window, optional bodyweight, and the foods you have scored with their scores). This is stored only on your device (see Section 4). It is not uploaded to our servers.
• Subscription status, managed through Apple's In-App Purchase system (see Section 5).

2. AI-Powered Food Photo Analysis

When you take or choose a food photo, the image is sent securely to our analysis service (a Supabase Edge Function), which forwards it to OpenAI to identify the food and return structured nutrition data. The request is associated with your anonymous identifier so the service can attribute and rate-limit usage. We do not store your photo on our servers; it is transmitted for analysis and the structured result is returned to your device. Your photo is used only to recognize the food and generate its pre-workout score, never for advertising.

The pre-workout scoring itself (the tier, the session forecast, the crash risk, and the fuel window) is computed on your device from that nutrition data. It is not sent anywhere.

3. Nutrition Data Source

PreMax retrieves nutrition facts from the USDA FoodData Central API. When you search for a food or when a scanned food is matched to a nutrition record, your food search query is sent to the USDA API to retrieve nutrition data. No personal information is included in these requests.

4. On-Device Storage

Your training preferences and your scan history are stored locally on your device using the app's on-device storage. They are not synced to our servers and are not visible to us. Deleting the app removes this data from your device.

Your anonymous authentication token is stored on-device using the platform's secure storage so your anonymous session persists between launches. All network communication uses HTTPS.

5. Subscriptions

PreMax offers auto-renewable subscriptions. Purchases are presented and managed with Superwall and processed by Apple through the App Store In-App Purchase system. We do not receive or store your payment card details; Apple handles the transaction. Superwall receives your anonymous identifier and subscription state so the correct entitlement and paywall can be shown.

6. Analytics and Tracking

PreMax does not include any third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDK. We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not use advertising identifiers.

7. How We Use Your Data

• Recognize the food in your photo and return its nutrition data
• Score that food as pre-workout fuel and show your session forecast
• Retrieve nutrition facts for foods you search
• Keep your preferences and scan history on your device
• Process subscriptions through Apple's In-App Purchase system

8. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Supabase: anonymous authentication and the food-photo analysis Edge Function
• OpenAI: food photo recognition and nutrition extraction
• USDA FoodData Central: nutrition database
• Superwall: subscription and paywall management (purchases processed by Apple)

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.

9. Data Retention and Deletion

Your scan history and preferences live on your device and are removed when you delete the app. Food photos are not retained on our servers after analysis. Because PreMax accounts are anonymous and carry no personal profile, the anonymous identifier is the only record on our side; if you would like it removed, contact us at the address below.

10. Children's Privacy

PreMax is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app. Continued use of PreMax after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
